Er starb 1987 in Südfrankreich.Miriam Mandelkow, 1963 geboren, wurde für ihre Neuübersetzung von Baldwins 'Von dieser Welt' mit dem Helmut-M.-Braem-Übersetzerpreis ausgezeichnet.
