Ed Young, geboren 1931 in Tianjin, China, wuchs in Shanghai auf. Er studierte Architektur und Kunst in Los Angeles und New York und illustrierte mehr als 100 Bilderbücher. Dafür hat er unter anderem die wichtigste amerikanische Auszeichnung für Bilderbücher, die Caldecott-Medal, erhalten. Ed Young starb im September 2023 in New York.
