Richard Sennett lehrt Soziologie und Geschichte an der London School of Economics und an der New York University. Er ist der Autor von u. a. "Der flexible Mensch". Bei Hanser Berlin erschien zuletzt Die offene Stadt (2019), der dritte Teil seiner Homo-Faber-Trilogie nach Zusammenarbeit (2012) und Handwerk (2008).Michael Bischoff, geboren 1949, studierte Mathematik und Soziologie und war Wissenschaftslektor im Suhrkamp Verlag. Seit 1977 übersetzt er Literatur aus dem Französischen und Englischen, u. a. von Émile Durkheim, Michel Foucault, Isaiah Berlin und Richard Sennett.
