Donald Mackinnon has a PhD and an MA from King's College London as well as an MPhil from the University of Glasgow. A serving Royal Navy officer with over 30 years' of experience both afloat and ashore, he has commanded a number of ships, deployed on operations worldwide, and held a number of staff roles in the Security, Policy, and Operations Directorate of the UK Ministry of Defence.
