Rebekka Habermas, geboren 1959, lehrte von 2000 bis 2023 Mittlere und Neuere Geschichte an der Georg-August-Universität in Göttingen. Sie war unter anderem Gastprofessorin an der École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris und Fellow am St Antony's College in Oxford. 2015 wurde ihr Artikel 'Lost in Translation: Transfer and Non-Transfer in the Atakpame Colonial Scandal' durch das Higby Prize Committee ausgezeichnet. Zuletzt erschienen von ihr die Bücher 'Diebe vor Gericht. Die Entstehung der modernen Rechtsordnung im 19. Jahrhundert' (2008), 'Von Käfern, Märkten und Menschen. Kolonialismus und Wissen in der Moderne' (hg. mit Alexandra Przyrembel, 2013) und 'Mission global. Eine Verflechtungsgeschichte seit dem 19. Jahrhundert' (hg. mit Richard Hölzl, 2014).
Rebekka Habermas verstarb 2023 nach schwerer Krankheit.
