Über den Autor François Rabelais

François Rabelais wurde 1492 oder 1493 in der Touraine geboren, er starb 1553 in Paris. Seine umfassende Bildung erwarb er bei den Franziskanern und den Benediktinern, wurde dann Weltgeistlicher, studierte Medizin, war als Arzt in Lyon tätig und wurde Leibarzt des Bischofs von Paris, mit dem er insgesamt drei Reisen nach Rom unternahm.Wolf Steinsieck, 1946 geboren, unterrichtete bis 2011 französische Literatur- und Kulturwissenschaft an der Hochschule Aachen und ist heute französischer Honorarkonsul in Aachen. Für seine Verdienste um die Vermittlung französischer Kultur wurde er 2003 mit dem Ordre des Palmes Académiques ausgezeichnet. Für Reclam hat er »Das altfranzösische Rolandslied« und Racines »Phèdre« übersetzt und kommentiert.
