Über den Autor Gerhard Hauptmann

Gerhart Hauptmann (1862-1946) war einer der bedeutendsten Vertreter des Naturalismus in der deutschen Literatur. Zu seinem Lebenslauf zählen eine abgebrochen Landwirtschaftslehre, eine gescheiterte Karriere als Maler und Bildhauer sowie mehrere abgebrochene Studiengänge wie z.B. Literaturgeschichte und Philosophie. Gerhart Hauptmann beschrieb immer wieder das Schicksal einfacher Bauern und Arbeiter, die an gesellschaftlichen Zwängen scheitern. Seine schriftstellerischen Werke wie auch seine Theaterstücke erregten Aufsehen und nicht selten Widerspruch. 1912 wurde Hauptmann der Literatur-Nobelpreis verliehen.
