A Brief Social History of Tuberculosis delves into the history of tuberculosis and its impact on human populations.
Drawing on research and expert experiences, the three research chapters (3-5) will explore how the disease has affected communities throughout history, and how society has responded to the threat of tuberculosis over time. Tuberculosis has been a persistent and devastating force from the crowded cities of the Industrial Revolution to the present day. However, this book will argue that there is much to be learned from the successes and failures of past efforts to control the disease from a social perspective. By examining the history of tuberculosis, researchers and policymakers can gain valuable insights into the challenges of infectious disease control, as well as the social and political factors that shape our response to such challenges.

He has conducted his research in India, the UK, USA, Philippines, and Fiji. Arnab's current research lies at the intersection of health policies, migration studies, and the history of medicine in non-western societies within the context of development.Janaka Jayawickrama, College of Liberal Arts, Shanghai University, China.Janaka is professor of social anthropology and has been collaborating with conflict and disaster affected communities in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East to facilitate wellbeing. He has conducted frontline humanitarian responses, research, evaluations, and policy analysis for the UN, governments, and humanitarian agencies since 1994. Janaka is also the Director of the Research Centre for Health and Wellbeing.Yong-an Zhang, College of Liberal Arts, Shanghai University, China.Yong-an is a professor of history and Director of the International Center for Drug Policy Studies. He has been conducting policy research from a historical perspective and focus on the delivery of them for the benefit of the people.
