Am 5. Mai 1930 wurde in amerikanischen Tageszeitungen der erste Micky-Maus-Zeitungsstrip von Floyd Gottfredson (1906-1986) veröffentlicht. Gottfredson sollte den Job eigentlich nur aushilfsweise für zwei Wochen übernehmen, doch daraus wurden am Ende 45 Jahre, in denen er Tausende Strips mit Micky und seinen Freunden zeichnete, zahlreiche Figuren wie Kommissar Hunter oder das Schwarze Phantom einführte und Generationen von Lesern und Künstlern mit Mickys fantastischen Abenteuern unterhielt und inspirierte.
